Open Waters Podcast
This podcast is all about what God is doing in Utah through the church, and through the ministry of Open Waters Worship. If you don't know who we are, we are a worship ministry in the heart of Salt Lake City, Utah who's reason for being is JESUS. We want all people to have GROWTH, not only in relationship with our King, but with the people around us as well. We also want people to cultivate a deep and pure INTIMACY with God, and from that intimacy a FREEDOM to be who we are called to be; and to top it off we want the body of Christ to radiate UNITY. The body as a whole can accomplish so much more than one person alone. So we want to ask you, are you ready to join us in an effort to unify the body, and grow in relationship? Are you ready for what true intimacy with the King looks like? If so, come give us a listen! We'd love to hear your feedback as well. Tell us your thoughts and if you have a question feel free to reach out to us! We love you and pray for an overflowing in all avenues of your life <3

34: What This Year Entails!
As we welcome the grace-filled year of 2024. Josiah and I reflect on the period of beautification and consecration ahead, revealing how 'yield' and 'expansion' have emerged as our guiding words for personal and church growth. We're excited to share the renewed mission of Open Waters: to deepen intimacy with God, uplift the spirits of our fellow Christians, and weave stronger threads of fellowship here in the heart of Utah.
The wisdom of the parable of the ten virgins opens up a discussion on spiritual readiness and the indispensable role of the Holy Spirit. Like the early Christians, we feel a pressing need to rekindle the flame of urgency within today's believers. Our conversation takes a turn as we explore the '30 day shred' program, which sharpens our spiritual vision and aligns our focus on holiness and proximity to our Creator. Through these insights, we see our journey akin to a bride's intentional preparation, marrying a commitment to purity with the pursuit of an ever-closer walk with God.
Transforming the landscape of worship, we reveal our shift towards large-scale gatherings, bringing the spirit of fellowship to farmer's markets, music festivals, and beyond—envisioning events that overflow stadiums in praise. We introduce the new young adults group, designed to support this vital yet often overlooked demographic, while also diving into the learnings from our church-wide Bible reading challenge that reaffirmed God's unwavering fidelity. As we close, a heartfelt prayer for guidance and blessing is offered, inviting an ever-deeper connection with the divine as we navigate life's waters, steadfast in our faith.

Thank you for being amazing and we pray blessings over you!
And I think that's the time of the season that the body is in. Right now we're in the time of becoming this queen, this beautification process, this purifying process that's more than just of what Esther went through. It's now we're.
Speaker 2:We're setting ourselves truly apart, consecrating ourselves as a holy people soaking and so soaking in all the bath products and Good and look beautiful and all these treatments, and it was a waiting period too.
Speaker 1:Yep Hello, welcome. Open waters family to 2024.
Speaker 2:We're back. We've had a little hiatus.
Speaker 1:We have, and you want to tell them a little bit about reason why you were sure yeah.
Speaker 2:So Josiah really wanted to pray into to the one age 24 2024. We didn't want to just kind of go through the motions and just do what we've always been doing, because that's what we do. We really wanted to pray into what does God have for us moving forward and what is in our hearts to do. And so he just really took the time to kind of think about that, pray into that, and we're so excited to share with you some of the results of that Time spent yes, it's been awesome.
Speaker 1:Yeah, been awesome to have a month off. I'm just kidding.
Speaker 2:It's pretty nice to have a break. I mean, we love worshiping, but it's a lot of pre prep and stuff and so a lot of behind-the-scenes work people don't see.
Speaker 1:But yeah, yeah, and so a little bit of a result of that was do you want to get started? You want to say, do a more baddest, we're still doing that.
Speaker 2:What do you want to do? Do you want to?
Speaker 1:let's do a more baddest, why not? We'll keep it going. So more about us is what is our word for 2024? Oh no, you don't have to. You don't have to get in. No, for for yourself personally, it's more about okay, I have a story behind this.
Speaker 2:So usually my husband and I go away and we, for new years, we take two days and we just have our own praying into. Well, we look first at what happened in 2023 and then we pray into 2024 and we usually pick a word. But what happened this year is we went to go see my dad in Nashville and we had Christmas with you and a bunch of Other family, and so we actually have not picked a word for this year. So I can say this our word for Our church 20 it for 2024.
Speaker 1:I am gonna use that, okay, okay, cuz I have to have the same thing. What you need the same word as a church.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm gonna say our word for new creation, our church, is yield and it's yielding to the Lord and the aspect of I'm surrendering and yielding to him and Seeing the yield that's out there and going out to eat to to receive that yield. So I'm not saying that's my word, I'm just saying that is the word for our church.
Speaker 1:I want to make sure you weren't cheating there. I'm not cheating.
Speaker 2:I still have to. Dan and I are gonna get together and talk about more specifically. But how about you, josiah? What is your personal?
Speaker 1:You should give us your word though.
Speaker 2:I don't know yet.
Speaker 1:You're okay, Okay.
Speaker 2:I'm listening to the words that are coming out of my mouth? No, not at all.
Speaker 1:Apparently so, for my word is I got a. I got a couple, but I'll give you one.
Speaker 2:Let me look at what I couple for 2024.
Speaker 1:Couple yeah.
Speaker 2:I had two words.
Speaker 1:I literally told you what they are when we met last time. Yeah, there we go, it is, we'll do expansion. I have another word, but expansion is the one. I'll say it's been good. So we're just expansion and work, life Opportunities and stuff like that. I feel like this year is gonna be a growth year, which again goes into expansion. So cool. Yeah, not gonna tell you a story, I'm not gonna, not gonna prolong the process of telling you more about me. Okay, anyway, whoo more about what happened in with open waters.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we're praying into things, open waters.
Speaker 1:I feel like you know, we just needed to get a essentially like I don't know people. It just reminds me like the people led into Israel, led into Egypt after a while, a after Jacob was given over to Believe it's Jacob at least, was given over into Joseph, joseph, joseph.
Speaker 2:There's been so many names, register. You're like no Jacob's, not right. Jacob's not right, no, jacob, jacob was Isaac, and then he got thrown the pit by his brothers and then he was taken and enslaved and Brought to Egypt.
Speaker 1:Yes, so we have Joseph went to the Egyptian place. He got obviously worked his way up the lines. You guys know the story, at least I would think you guys would.
Speaker 2:But you don't go, look it up.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it felt like you know, kind of like the Revision of what happened after the Israelites came out and the Exodus and all that stuff. It just felt like we needed a time away to go and get another vision of what God wants to do through this ministry that he's been giving to us open waters and so a couple of things they're just gonna give you the Pretty much the mission statement is that open water exists to give you. I'm just gonna read it, cuz I'm not great at.
Speaker 2:I'm not great at, you know Just why try to change or alter what God gave you?
Speaker 1:exactly that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2:I want to play my music again.
Speaker 1:Do do it's not helping, there we go. You know it I have multiple, multiple notes in my phone like hundreds, but the the mission statement is building up of intimacy with God and morale in the body of Christ, whilst Giving Pete, the body of Christ fellowship in Utah.
Speaker 1:So I feel like that again for me, please the building up of intimacy with God, moral in the body of Christ and building up a fellowship in Utah. Okay, I feel like there's the I'm gonna start off with that last, I'm gonna go last and go backwards, and so the fellowship in Utah, I think is a big thing. I think there's a lot of sanctions almost feels like we're we're all on the same side but we're fighting different battles instead of having one unified force to go at the, the power of evil, you know, I'm saying or the LDS church, if you want to put that. They're not evil people. It's the religiousness that was.
Speaker 1:That is seen all throughout the Bible and it's seen even here in like, when people have a religion they think of like. I almost want to switch my tag from being a Christian to being just a lover of Jesus, because it's like we are Christians in the sense that we follow Christ, but we're just truly lovers of Jesus and truly going after. We were grafted in and we are people that just truly Love Jesus and that's we go after Jesus, we go after everything he was and our true saving grace is the gospel that Jesus died.
Speaker 1:Right, exactly and so, anyway, the fellowship in Utah. I feel like we need to stop Doing different shake sanction battles. You know, like the well is doing here, they're trying to go after the lost. So we're over here, we're going after worship. We should bring people together. They're the same body, but we're not. There's not one right way, yeah, and so I think we need to bring build fellowship within the body, cross-body fellowship, and so I also think I want to add to the fellowship piece.
Speaker 2:We were just talking to a local business owner honey, suckled coffee and we were just talking about how just you know not to pound on on people or or things but how social media, electronics, different things like that. They're not bad, but they definitely especially, I would say, in a post COVID world have stripped away at humans connecting with humans. It takes more effort what used to be natural to sit and really connect with somebody in Person, physically. That used to be the natural. Now it's almost like that takes more discipline and effort to have humans connecting with other humans and so that fellowship in person, your spirit touching my spirit in person, and Without the the technology interrupting or that being the means of connection.
Speaker 1:Agreed. And the second part is the morale in the body of Christ. I spelled it wrong on here. It's not moral, it's morale in the body of Christ. I feel like when I was praying. I feel like a lot of the time, especially in this state that is so heavily religious, like we have a blanket of religion over this state and you can almost it's practically felt, like you can feel In your spirit, but it's almost physical, like you almost feel heavier when you get to Utah, not just because you're higher up in the atmosphere, but because you're just like you're in this place where there's so much expectation of following the law, following the.
Speaker 1:Perfection, the, the religion, if you have following the perfectionism you should have outside being clean.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and it's like, it's like everybody knows we're all sinners and so it's like there's just get past that and you know. Anyway, the morale part is I feel like the body of Christ here in Utah needs to have like a place where we can group up and have, keep big corporate gatherings, because I feel like when we get together and it's very encouraging to see a large number of people gathered together in one place going after one thing, and that's just more of Jesus.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean I think we've talked about this before, but when I have gone to a Christian concert In town and you see all these people there and I'm sure not all of them are born again Christian believers who stand upon the word of God as the only source for what they believe, in Jesus, as the reason why they're saved. But it still is Evident at those that hurt the body of Christ is so much more, so much larger than what we realize because we don't have a lot of those real connection Points. That, and it just does, it builds your when you see that there are other believers. It encourages you, it builds your morale. Like you said, and I agree with with you, there's.
Speaker 2:Every place has its challenges, it's just like we were we were in Tennessee recently and it's in the Bible Belt and One of our relatives just commented on how much easier it is in the Bible Belt. But they have their own issues of religious right. We have ours here. They happen to be in a state of Maine which is it has its own struggles with the church and with the morale there, and we have ours, and it is very tangible here, in Utah. Yeah, so that's beautiful. I love it 100%.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think we just and the vision of that is that we will have I'll get into that later, I won't spoil it now but the last part is the intimacy with God.
Speaker 1:I think that's the biggest part of our relationship with God is building up an intimacy and a knowledge of who God is, and that not only comes from encountering God in worship but also having the word given to us in our own time alone, and I hope that open waters as we worship God. It gives place for people to grow a hunger into really diving deep into God's word. Because, again, you can't you can't just worship God and expect that to be your entire relationship with God. Yes, it can be a part of it, a pretty large part of it, but reading his word you'll find out who he is, and just reading his word You'll find out who he is and worshiping him as well. But if you don't know who he is from reading it, it's your. You don't know what to expect when you go into worship, and that's where I think a lot of the cookingness comes from in churches is we don't know who God is, so we're just going to go and do this crazy act and it's called God and it's really not.
Speaker 1:It's really good, and so building up of intimacy with God and around the body of Christ and fellowship in the body of Christ in Utah, it's really what we're going after, and so I do you have something to add?
Speaker 2:Well, I just think the intimacy piece, like I feel, feel even I thought this was a really good analogy that pastor, our pastor, brought up and he was talking about you know, the days that we live in, god is kind of there. There are things that you could do before that in this season you can't do. And I just I felt like that rang so true to me, because I I think I've talked about it on here that I have just felt like there is more things that I used to be able to do in this season I can't. And part of that is because we are because the days that we live in and we have to be so connected and so intimate with the Lord and those things are things that keep us from being intimate with him. And he talked about how the parable of the 10 virgins, that that oil, that you know five of them I don't know if you go back and read it, it was in Matthew.
Speaker 1:He was reading Matthew. Matthew Is Matthew 25, I believe.
Speaker 2:Okay, 24, 25. And he and it just talks about, so you know, the 10 virgins. It's a very familiar story.
Speaker 1:25 versus one through sorry, pretty much Okay. One through 30.
Speaker 2:Okay. And so five of them had the oil and five of them didn't, because five of them went and bought it and made sure they were prepared, five of them didn't, and then they wanted the oil after, when they couldn't get it. And so that oil is the, the Holy Spirit, and he talked about. Our pastor talked about how spending or buying that oil is that time that you spend with the Lord, it's the time that you spend serving. It's, that's buying your oil. And we're not talking about being busy, to be busy and works, but there is a piece of that of doing those things that does, you know, put that oil in you. And so, yeah, yeah, it's important.
Speaker 1:We'd none of us know the time of the day even the disciples back in the time.
Speaker 1:Like Paul, he wasn't a disciple, but he was very much, yeah, 100%, and he was huge. And he said he literally, I almost guarantee you that he thought the time of God's return was going to be during his time, the way they talk in the Bible like he's speaking, like, oh yeah, the time of God's coming back now. And so I think there was a sense of urgency that we're missing today and I think we need to, you know, return to that urgency.
Speaker 1:And to kind of go off of that as well. I think the intimacy part comes with a like. When you're married there's not a choice to be unfaithful. You know what I'm saying? Shouldn't be yeah, I mean you know I'm gonna go from a healthy really because I'm gonna say there's not a choice to be unfaithful. There's not a choice to be unfaithful.
Speaker 2:You're monogamous.
Speaker 1:Yes, you're 100% committed to this person. And when we get into the Bible, there's this. You know we're gonna talk later about this in this episode, but I think there's a there's coming a time where we just have to choose, and the time to choose is now. It's no longer going to be you get to sit on the fence anymore, and it's becoming more obvious as time goes on that the time is to choose is now, and I think you know it doesn't matter from like Am I going to go to this church or that church? That's really irrelevant. It's are you going to follow Jesus and truly go after Jesus and to be holy as he is holy, and really go after the things of God, or are you going to now sit on the fence? Because when God comes, he's not looking for a half boiled water, he's not looking for a half dressed wife.
Speaker 1:He's looking for a fully ready to marry wife that is purely and pure, and so that's what we're going after for open waters. We just want to further along that beautification process. There is oh sorry.
Speaker 2:No go finish.
Speaker 1:Okay, so this is what I was going to say is like a lot of the times back in the day, at least during the time of the when we read it. We just finished this thing called a 30 day shred. Oh yeah, where's you going to go and talk about this? Oh, you're good.
Speaker 2:Well, I will. I was going to talk about just some of how, those what we just talked about, the vision, just kind of finalizing the vision.
Speaker 1:Go for it.
Speaker 2:So those of you out there you may have seen some of our posts already, maybe you haven't but some of this is going to include not only our Sunday, so we're switching to a first of the month Sunday.
Speaker 2:Every first Sunday of the month we will be meeting at 5pm, so that's a switch from what we used to do, which was the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. So this is the first Sunday of every month. It doesn't conflict with any holidays for the most part, and we're just. That's the vision, that's where we feel like God is leading us, after seeking some wise counsel, et cetera. That's what we've kind of decided on. So that's at 5pm. If you go to our Instagram page, there is a post that lists all the dates so you can be prepared for that. We also are looking at doing some more outreaches in the community where we just, you know, go to, say, a farmer's market and just play and do prophetic activations.
Speaker 1:Music festivals.
Speaker 2:Doing larger scale events like we have had, like open waters in the park. This is some of our vision that we're looking at and, as Josiah, has really been seeking the Lord out.
Speaker 1:To kind of go off the larger scale gatherings. I think in the end goal I'm a very end goal person I see the end goal and that's what I want to get to start right now. Let's do the end goal, that's it. But I see us in like, in, like. The end goal of this is having gatherings like Billy Graham and stuff like that, where they would fill stadiums, fill, I mean fields of people.
Speaker 1:And it's not because of the name being given. I don't care if people will figure out who open waters is. It's not about open waters worship being a thing or a trend or a ministry group. Again, it's not my ministry. This is what Lord, I feel like, is leading us to do, and if Jesus' name can be proclaimed at all, that's the best thing I can say. If it's Jesus' name plastered onto this, that's better than my name. And so it's not about a people, it's not about a group, it's not about a ministry, it's about Jesus. And so the end goal is to have, like stadiums and, like I said, fields and stuff like that, just thousands of thousands of people group together worshiping God.
Speaker 2:So yeah, totally, Anyway. And then also you started just briefly having a young adults.
Speaker 1:Yep Little meeting.
Speaker 2:A little like you had a group of people that got together. So you want to expound on that. I do think this is a really hard age, because age group that kind of drops off in a lot of places, because it's just kind of this in between place, and I feel like a lot of young adults kind of get lost in the shuffle. So I think it's wonderful that you kind of dipped your toes in the water on this. In 2023. You're hoping to expand on this in 2024.
Speaker 1:Yep, it's planning on continuing on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. We will see if that ends up being the final day. As of now, that is the day that we're going to continue doing it on Perfect.
Speaker 2:All right. And then you wanted to talk about our 30 day shred that we just did Our 30 day shred. Our 30 day shred.
Speaker 1:It is. I want to say, guys, so while taking this month off, we weren't just doing nothing. We have done this challenge given to us by our pastor at our church, and the whole church was challenged to do it. I think maybe 30 or 40 percent of the church did the shred and I think I would say pretty much be optimistic to say I think around 30 percent of the church actually is on topic to finish the shred in the 30 days, which is awesome. 30 percent of a church doing that much reading is actually insane.
Speaker 1:It's like drinking from a fire hose. I forget what the stat was on the Bible, but I think it was like around 20 percent of the body of Christ actually knows or has read the entire Bible. I think it's less than that to be honest, it's crazy.
Speaker 2:I have never read from start to finish, cover to cover. So this was. This is really cool for me. I think for me the best part of the shred was, while you obviously can't do in depth study, it was really cool in such a short space you're able to kind of get an overarching overview of everything. It was really cool and I think that is something that you can't get when you read it in a year, or even when you do one book in depth that has its purpose and its place 100 percent In 30 days. I was able to so clearly see just this.
Speaker 1:Like I said, it's just like this arc of why the Bible was put together with the books it did.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and some of it was hard to listen to. Over and over again, the sacrifice of the animals, the law, it was.
Speaker 1:I was like Lord why.
Speaker 2:You know the numbering of everybody, the chronicles, and I understand the possible reasons of why that was there and is there. It really does keep a good record that can all be supported in what they find in archaeological digs and all that kind of stuff. So there's so many reasons why and I know many. I don't understand, but I just it was beautiful to get this overall picture and you know, one of my I think one of my biggest takeaways was how faithful God is and how faithless man is, just and there's nothing new under the sun. There are so many Like I talked about today on the way here. It talks about transgender stuff happening. Back in the day they didn't know who was man and who was woman, which just seems so ridiculous, but it's not anything new under the sun and just how faithful God has been. And God even just brought me back to the promises he gave me before I even had children, 30 years ago. Like just the beauty of how faithful he is, even to me.
Speaker 1:So I wanted to kind of dive. I'll talk more about the 30-day shred, but in the intimacy part of our vision, I wanted to talk about this and it was pertaining to the 30-day shred because I read it. But one of the kings of Persia, I believe is Esther, was the lady that she went through this entire process, this beautification process and the things that went through that. I'm pretty sure it was a lot of culture stuff and maybe some other stuff that may not be so great, but there was this time to get them accustomed to being a queen or a princess and it was a time of also getting them fit and ready to pretty much marry the king. And Esther was the one being made.
Speaker 1:Although she had favor and divine appointment from God, it did require a process of becoming this queen and I think that's the time of the season that the body is in. Right now. We're in the time of becoming this queen. This beautification process, this purifying process. That's more than just what Esther went through. It's now we're setting ourselves truly apart, consecrating ourselves as a holy people.
Speaker 2:Soaking and all the bath products and getting us to smell good and look beautiful, and all these beauty treatments, and it was a waiting period too.
Speaker 1:Yep.
Speaker 2:And not knowing when you were going to see your bridegroom.
Speaker 1:What up? Open Waters family? I just wanted to take one quick second away from the podcast. I'm sorry to ask you if you could please go ahead, like rate and subscribe to this podcast, because it does wonders for us reaching more people so that we can get the word of God out to people and what God is speaking to us. Open Waters is all about building up intimacy with God, building up the morale of Christianity in the body of Christ, as well as building fellowship. So if you have any friends, please send them our way so we can get to know them as well. Take care, I love you guys. Yep. And it's also like you know at this entire time you don't even know if he was going to choose you yet.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but we know that we're chosen. Yes, we know that, you know we're going to see us. So how much even more so should we be preparing, knowing?
Speaker 1:that we're the chosen one and so yeah, anyway, within the 30 days it was awesome, I think. It was like.
Speaker 2:I think I picked up a lot more than I realized, you've talked a lot about things.
Speaker 1:But it's just because I don't like. I went to this program when I was younger called the World Rangers, which required me to do a like at least a lesson on everything throughout the Bible, like every, every. But it wasn't like we go by verse by verse, reading everything.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:And so in. I would say I've read the Bible loosely, but now, after this challenge, I think I would consider that I've read the entire Bible, first for verse, which is awesome. I didn't even know, but I heard somewhere that the what the Jewish people believe, that believe is the Torah.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:And it's the first five books of the Bible Genesis, exodus, exodus, leviticus, numbers I mean Genesis, exodus, leviticus, numbers, deuteronomy and so, which was pretty cool. And so we read those and it's like I can see where all all their like religious stuff comes from. And then even on to you know, numbers, judges I mean judges, all those other books with all the different prophets. It's just like, ok, I get where they were, they're coming from. And then, as we're reading today, we're we're rounding off, like what Paul wrote to the different churches. We're not finished but where I believe we're ending it off.
Speaker 1:But I can, I can see where the Jewish people have a hard time accepting Jesus as the Lord, because Paul literally is laying down his Jewish lineage, being from the tribe of Benjamin and then also being this highly educated person, and he's saying that doesn't matter anymore and I could see as being previously in the chosen people. In the broad, the entire rest of the world is no longer accepted, accepting that now what is given to us is given to everybody else. I think there's a little bit of pride that they might be dealing with because it's like wow, I'm no longer like. I almost feel like Like, instead of having like a very like a Rejoicing and saying that everybody gets to be a part of this. There's almost like oh, now I'm no longer special type of feeling and I can see how that could happen.
Speaker 2:But and how is this fair? We've had to do all these things for all these years and they only they get grabbed, they get just like, they get to be a part without having had this, this history of all these things, and but it's just like a thief on the cross right, it's just like the person that the the parable of the person that the people who worked and the one group started the whole day. Some of them start half the day started. Some of them started at the end of the day.
Speaker 1:They still got to take part in the same payment, exactly so inside exactly, and so a lot of stuff was really cool throughout the Bible but was really like a lot of was shocking. To be honest, a lot of it was really repetitive, like the like numbers, drudronomy, leviticus was.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they were a lot of.
Speaker 1:The prophets were all about oh, you guys went away from the Lord. Now you guys are going to fill the wrath of the Lord.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and then we get into.
Speaker 1:Kings, where it's literally every other King.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that was so upsetting to me. I'm like that's where I was, like God, we have been so unfaithful and you are been so faithful, so yeah and so and so.
Speaker 1:For me, I think it's been really cool to see I keep saying for me, yeah, but like I think it's really cool to see that you know, god's really just it's. It's really cool to see how, like they, god gave us his entire book called the Bible and it's literally just a love story from beginning to end. He created man. Man was good. He loved us enough to give us a companion. He gave us women that we were to together love back. Jesus and Adam.
Speaker 1:We don't know how long Adam and Eve were in the garden Having this really cool relationship with God where they're walking and talking with Jesus. I mean God, I'm not sure which, which part of the Godhead he was talking to, but I know God isn't, isn't like a physical being. So I don't know if maybe it was Jesus there with them, but I don't know. That's some cool thoughts too. But there's a lot of different questions too that I have about different things with with reading this. But it's like we go from Genesis, where God created us, to wanting us to choose him, and then us like us, going with the enemy and taking it, taking part in evil, and then sin joins the fray and then it's just. Its entire book is showing how God wanted us to choose him and still wants us to choose him, even to this point where he sent his son to die for us, like John 3, 16, the classic, the one where he sent his only son to die for us.
Speaker 1:Whoever believes in him, it's all he wants be saved and he wants us to be saved so that we can join in him heaven.
Speaker 2:Yes, ever and we can. Just, hell was not made for people, it was made for the demons.
Speaker 1:Satan and angels.
Speaker 2:That's what it was made for, not for us.
Speaker 1:Yes, and so I think it's so cool and also I think it's also not cool, but I think it's interesting how, how many of the things like throughout the entire part of the Kings and Prophets they talked about like these idols. They had plenty of different gods and idols and different things throughout the Bible.
Speaker 1:And there's sex and religion shrines. But I'm like you know how many of those we have today. They might not be as archaic as they were back in the day, where they were literal shrines with when they went and that's where they had prostitutes hidden away or, like you know, I'm saying, and so had a bunch of different things. And it's just like it's not any different today that as it was back then. It's just we've now have technology to have, like you know, different, yeah, different things. That said, we also just were, I would say, almost more civilized, but we're really not. So anyway, yeah, have anything to add, anything that was cool to you.
Speaker 2:No, no, I think I kind of mentioned it already, so I think it's good it's. I'm processing it all really. I would highly suggest it to any of you out there to do it.
Speaker 1:If any of you guys have not read the entire Bible, it is awesome, and if you are a new believer, I would recommend you start at Matthew.
Speaker 2:Yes or John, because when you, when you, when you start the Old Testament.
Speaker 1:You'll get to the prophets and you'll be like man. Who's this God we're trying to follow, right? Yeah, he wants us to die. He's gonna burn us with fiery fury. Right, hold up, wait a minute.
Speaker 2:Jesus took all of that, so we don't have to. It's beautiful.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it was awesome and so that's pretty much it. I mean there's a lot of other things within the Gospels that I think is really cool, but Do you have anything else you wanted to talk about?
Speaker 2:No, I think that's it. We just wanted to share our hearts and our visions. We're excited to be back. We're also gonna be doing podcast every week again, because we feel like that's something also would just, I afraid, that yes. We wanted to do, so we are gonna be pushing to that. We're gonna hopefully have some cool you interviews as segments with other people, so that should be really interesting.
Speaker 1:It's gonna be awesome to have some other voices other than just ours, but also people that have. God gives us revelation, but he also gives other people revelation. I think a lot of the time we get we think that the revelation is spread evenly amongst everybody. We all get the same revelation. No, god gives different parts to different people and this is not a one player game. Life is not a one player game, and so let's do it together. I do want us to read, wanna read the? That sort of the 10 virgins, okay, sounds good.
Speaker 1:It's Matthew, like I said, one through. I did say 31, but it's actually not that long, it's only 13,.
Speaker 2:so Okay, 25.
Speaker 1:25, one through 13. And it's God's kingdom is like 10 young virgins, who took oil lamps, went out to greet the bride's groom. Five were silly and five were smart. The silly virgins took lamps but no extra oil, so they only put what was in the lamp itself. It did not bring any extra to keep it lit. The smart virgins took jars of oil to feed their lamps. The bridegroom did not show up when they expected him and all they fell asleep.
Speaker 1:In the middle of the night someone yelled out he's here, the bridegroom's here, go out and greet him. The 10 virgins got up and got their lamps ready. The silly ones said to the smart ones our lamps are going out. Lend us some of your oil. They answered there might not be enough to go around. Go buy your own. They did. But while they were out buying oil, the bridegroom arrived and when everyone who was there to greet him had gone into the wedding feast, the door was locked. Much later the other virgins silly ones showed up and knocked on the door saying master, we're here, let us in. And he said. He answered do I and I? He answered do I know you? I don't think I know you, so stay alert, you have no idea when he might arrive. So, guys, time is now. It's time to choose our team. Essentially, yeah.
Speaker 1:And I pray that you guys buy your oil now why he is away and then we are ready when he comes, Because the time is nearing when he returns and I think, like the disciples, we have to have a sense of urgency, that we don't know the hour or the day and we don't know how much time we ourselves have on this earth as well. We could end up not waking up from our sleep tomorrow, and I think we need to be ready. We need to have oil in our lamps enough to welcome the bridegroom home.
Speaker 2:That's right.
Speaker 1:And so what? I just pray for this family, open Water's family, god, and this team, as we move forward in 2024, god, that we would just be ready for you, god, and that we would be ready for what you're pouring out, god. Our church is saying the word yield, god, and we just pray even to that, for Open Water's as well, god, that you have a yield ready for people. God, joining your body. God, we pray that the fields are white, with ready wheat, god, ready for picking. God, ready to be made into something useful and made into bread, god. I just pray that people not only would come to Open Water's to hear what revelation we have, god, but also to have an encounter with you at Open Water's worship nights. God, I pray that you would bring people in God, you would bring them in to have an encounter with you, god, and that they would also grow in a hunger for you, god. I pray for every listener, god, that they would just again get a hunger for you, god.
Speaker 1:Dive into your word, god, the true love story. That is the Bible, god. Even in the hard parts to read, god, I pray that there was love in it. It's because you were so loving of us that you wanted us to choose you, god, but we kept choosing other things, god, and I pray that we would learn from it and that we would choose you and say I'm not gonna leave you anymore. I'm gonna choose you for my life, god. I'm gonna teach my kids to choose you for their lives, god, and I pray that you would truly stay firm on you, god, and we would build our house on the rock, god. We would build our house on you, jesus instead of being blown easily away by the wind.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Do you have anything you wanna pray?
Speaker 2:I kinda just pray for every person that is listening that you would just in 2020, where you just bless them and keep them, let your face shine upon them. God, I just pray for consistency in getting new oil from you, god, consistency and intimacy with you. God, I thank you for renewed vision and renewed intimacy with you, god, renewed purpose, renewed understanding, and I thank you more than anything that you would protect every person from just deception and connection with more of what is happening in the natural. We live in the natural, but I just thank you that their main connection and anchoring is in heavenly places. God, I just thank you for this. I just pray that you just continue to lead and to guide and that we would have eyes to see, ears to hear, hearts to conceive and just a willingness to follow where you're leading. In Jesus' name.
Speaker 1:Amen, amen. We'll be talking to you guys later. Bye.
